Not Sure About This One
There's a street sign, but seemingly no street, just this area between the northbound and southbound lanes of Broadway. There may have once been a street running east where the General Grant Houses now stand. On March 3, 2008, Bob Krauss wrote: "My guess is that Moylan Place was originally 126th Street around the turn of the 20th century. Back then LaSalle St was 125th St and Tiemann Pl was 127th St. What is now 125th St was Manhattan Street, The 1897 atlas shows a street running from Broadway to Claremont Ave between LaSalle & Tiemann. At that time the block was undeveloped, with virtually no buildings on it. By 1903 the block was almost completely built up, and there was no longer a street between LaSalle and Tiemann. I'm pretty sure the street on the east side of Broadway was called Moylan Pl by 1903, but I didn't check in the 1897 atlas." |
