Cranberry Nut Bread

2 cups of flour

1 cup of sugar

1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

1 teaspoon of salt

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

1/4 cup of shortening

1 teaspoon of grated orange peel

3/4 cup of orange juice

1 well beaten egg

1 cup of chopped cranberries

1/2 cup of chopped nuts

 

Sift together the dry ingredients.

Cut in shortening.

Combine peel, juice and egg and add to the dry ingredients, mixing just to moisten.

Fold in berries and nuts.

Turn into a greased 9x5x3 inch pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes.

Cool, wrap and store overnight.
