Good Times and Bad Times
Have you ever had the feeling of everything going right?
I have and it's an extreme delight
Everything's going right
No one dislikes
And then it's a fright
Good times and bad times can't give you fear
You can't be a jerk and start drinkin beer
It comes at you like a car on the speedway
Everyone's making fun of you, you don't know what to say
You can't let that bring you down
First, you get hugs from everyone you see
Then you're arrested for possession of drugs
And you've got a broken knee
You get yourself mixed up with drugs and gangs
You got to stop and get back to the good times
Good times and bad times
I try to play baseball and other sports to keep me with the good times
And showing people I can do something with my life
It's my time to shine
Can't let drugs and gangs bring me down
You got to stop and think about . . .
The good times, the bad times,
The wrong times, the right times
I have to stay positive.

I Am
I am a funny baseball playing boy that tells jokes
I wonder why it rains
I hear a horn blowing in my head
I see trees blowing in the wind
I want to become a major league baseball player
I am a baseball playing boy that tells jokes
I pretend I play for the Yankees
I feel the sun beating down on me on a hot summer day
I touch the Babe Ruth monument at Yankee Stadium
I worry that a tornado will hit Maplewood
I cry in the thought that everyone will die.
I am a funny baseball playing boy that tells jokes
I understand that it's hard to make the major leagues
I say that it is wrong to be prejudiced
I dream that I will be starting for the Yankees
I will become a baseball player
I wish that I am a funny baseball playing boy that tells jokes
I will never die.

The Stupendous Sight of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving was a stupendous sight
After the rap rap rapping and the tap tapping on the door
Things began
There was the fabulous free food
Including the creamy crunchy crop of corn
Mixed with the fantastic family members
All in one long long luxurious complete package
It was not dubious or doubtful at all.

The Nets' Road to the Finals
Jason Kidd leads the way
Richard Jefferson dunks the ball in the open floor
Kenyon Martin slams the ball in your face
Kerry Kittles' 3's take the other team's grins off their faces
They're playing for one goal
Just to be the best
And that one goal is going to be a test
Going through T-Mac Kobe Duncan KG and Shaq
It will be easy as can be
The Nets can reach their goal, just you wait and see.

Clemens Goes for 300
Clemens needs one more win
If he doesn't get it, it would be a sin
He knows he's going get it
Faster than Andy Pettitte.

Subway Series Rivalry
The Yankees and the Mets have such a great rivalry
A subway series
Filled with glee
Battling oh so hard for win
If the Yankees don't lose, it would be a sin.
d.p.s.
Meadowlands Duel
Giants and Jets
A heated match
This would be one game that I gotta catch
At the Meadowlands
The newly planted grass
All that stands between a touchdown

Anna and Daniel
Laying the ball up
Is a spectacular pass
The ref has to tell the other team to shut up
It's my game
My house
My skills unmatched
My sister has just learned to catch
Next thing you'll know
She'll be the best.

Elegy for Donald Johnston
It was sad when my friend's dad died that day
But my friend still was calm
Upset that his idol
His friend
And that his father had died
I don't know how such a strong man on the outside
Had cancer on the inside
His music echoed in every jazz club
His doing and saying were inside everyone that he spoke to
It was hard for the world to lose such a great man.
d.p.s.
Limericks
There once was a guy named Bob
But for some reason he always sobbed
I don't know why
But he wanted to die
And he was in the Italian mob
There once was a star that I knew
Part of a constellation called moo
It resembles a cow
Takin a bow
Holla back youngin whoo whoo
There once was a guy named Harry
His best friend's name was Larry
He liked to eat
Especially meat
And his favorite star was Jim Carey
There once was a puff on Chad
That was so amazingly rad
He tried to pick it
And then to flick it
When he cut it, it made people sad

The Hardships of Babe Ruth Baseball
Why am I not in the game?
It's hard to watch the ball go through the star player's legs
My dad and I know I could do more for the team
But the head coach has a head made of rock and stomach full of jelly.
His heart is doughnuts and stone
It's hard for me to sit on the bench
When I know I can do better
It's not fair
The coaches are lying to me
Saying that I will play
But I never will
They play favorites
Sons
Sons' friends
And parent complaints
Not always the better kids
Not to have fun
But to win.

The Picture Perfect Point Guard
The shiny bald head of Jason Kidd
Glides down the court
The 6 ft. 4 in. man
You would never see him get angry and snort
With a large tattoo covered up by his jersey
He cuts through defenders
This way and that
There are even a few books without pictures he has read.
d.p.s.
Going to the Yankee Game
Yankees games are so exciting
The crowd is like music to my ears
The drive
Batting practice
Players
Major Leaguers
The best baseball team ever
Roger Clemens
The big broad man is going for 300 wins
You can tell by his stare
That if he doesn't get it
It would be a sin
His nickname is Rocket
Serves him well
For when hitters swing through his fastball
Their dreams of a homerun go to hell
d.p.s.
A Horrifying Sight
During a game
I saw a horrifying sight
It would've put no one in delight
It's very disgusting as you might see
The green foot fungus eases off her slimy green toes
Its incredibly hard to look at with glee.
Its even hard to look at her roach infested left and right knees
They are so slimy
And almost disgusting as her toes
But if you see her rainbow colored dandruff
You'll just throw up
It is red, green, blue, orange, yellow, and black
I dont even want to tell you about her crusty old back
But I'm not going to because then you'll need to see a therapist
But even after that horrible sight
I was still able to have a good game
But at night, I had bad dreams of that rotten horrible sight.

Being a Pitcher
Gripping the ball across the seams
Anyway I throw a pitch, it will be a fastball
Balls and strikes, both around equal amounts
Throw straight
Over the top
None of that side arm or herky jerky crap
Think of the big leaguers
How do they throw?
If I don't win
I will not succeed
And be in the majors
They need my wins
But my arm is too young for a breaking ball

Sympathetic to the other animals struggling
Intelligent about making the right decisions

Brave when the odds are against him
Admirable for being sympathetic , intelligent, manly, and brave

All that matters is they have the right hooking.

Mask Poem
My friend wore the mask when his father died
And on the inside my friend cried
It was a hard time for him
But on the outside he wore a grin
It was a hard time for my friend to wear a mask.
Why did it happen to him?
Just let us see
When he wore the mask
He smiled, but inside he cried
Inside he was tortured
He's friendly, but yet he's tortured
Beneath his feet laid the pain
But the world changed his life
My friend wears the mask

The Ballad of Daniel Straus
We had only eight players on my team,
And I thought the opponents would reign supreme.
They were bigger and better, or so I thought.
When we started the game , we were distraught.
I led off at bat and played second base,
I walked and took first with a grin on my face.
In the field a grounder was hit hard to me,
I threw it to first, and my team was in glee.
In the second inning, the score was tied at zero,
At my next at bat, I was almost the hero.
I got a single to left and stole second base,
But this time my team's hitting was a disgrace.
The hitters behind me all made an out
And my one big base hit was forgotten about.
In the field my pitcher struck out all three guys
Without blinking one of his fiery eyes.
In two innings after, I struck out and walked twice
We scored eight more runs without rolling the dice
It surprised all the players on both teams a lot
And now in the playoffs , we have a good shot.

My Place
I see the green grass of Yankee stadium
I hear the fans cheering for the Yankees
I smell the roasted peanuts mixed with beer
I taste the special Yankee crispy cream donuts
I feel my glove waiting for a fly ball
I am going to Yankee stadium

Jason Kidd : From California to New Jersey
It all started for Jason Kidd
In the courts of Oakland, California
Where he began to play.
Day and night, J-Kidd worked to be the best
Even when he played kids five years older
It was a simple test.
He could do it all:
Pass, dribble, shoot, run, rebound, and more.
After he was drafted, his purpose was to score.
He had a brilliant career at The University of California.
But J-Kidd was not done, he wanted more.
In 1994, he was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks.
Jason had a pretty good rookie year,
But knowing Kidd, he could do better.
Kidd's opponents' faces were filled with fear .
During the next season, Kidd had a great year
With 17 points and 9 assists.
This was the beginning of a new career.
But in the middle of the 96 season,
J-Kidd was traded to Phoenix.
Jason was not upset or needed a Kleenex .
In 97, Kidd's points dropped to 12 and assists stayed the same.
Even though Jason's stats went down,
He still felt like he was a part of the team.
Turning into a premier point guard.
And so, in 2001, J-Kidd was traded to the Nets.
The Nets knew that Kidd would help the team.
But they didn't know they he would bring the team to a new extreme.
He took them to the finals that year.
But even though the Lakers swept the Nets,
Kidd said, "Next year!"
And in 2002, Kidd did just that.
Taking the Nets to the finals, back to back.
Now , in 2003, the Nets are in a series with the Spurs.
And Kidd's contract is up next year.
The Nets, the fans, Jouanna , TJ, and I hope that J-Kidd will be back.
