My Day, Sept. 11, 2001
6:15 Left the house for work. 7:15 Got out of the subway. 7:45 Got to work. 7:50 Went to the bathroom until 8:00. Took my first run and had breakfast until 8:45. I had just finished breakfast and was about ready to take my first run when I heard sirens. I looked outside and saw the First Tower engulfed in flames and people were saying Oh shit an airplane had just flown in to the World Trade Center." I Iooked outside the window of my building and saw the tower in flames. Oh shit there was a hole in the tower and flames were coming out of the tower and smoke. And then I went back to my desk and then someone was yelling Another plane a just hit the World Trade Center." By this time, everyone in my building had to be evacuated. I cant imagine what happened next when I saw the fist tower in flames I thought someone had started a fire. I could see the smoke and the flames and it was something out of a Die Hard movie, but it was real. I was devastated. When we where outside, everyone was calling their families to let them know that they where o.k. When I saw the flames I called my Mom and brother and said that a plane had just flown into the World Trade Center. And I also heard sirens and I figured it wasnt that bad. I was outside my building listening to updates. At 9: 45, I heard that a plane had just flown into the Pentagon. I was in front of my building and saw people crying. I was frantic. The next thing I saw I looked up and saw smoke and figured it was just a fire but it was not. And the next thing you know everyone was running for their lives. It was like a movie like World War 3. Everything and everybody was covered with ash. I was coughing. I saw a big cloud of smoke coming toward us. That is when I ran. I walked across the highway to the heliport where they had boats to go to New Jersey. I did not want to go to New Jersey. But I had to get out of there. I saw a lot of people walking along the highway. Usually there are cars. But today there are people trying to get to safety. They were passing out masks and I had to get out my sunglasses because the ash was so thick. There was no way out of the city because there was no subways running in or out of the city. But I wanted to get out of there as quick as possible, but I could not. So I walked to where I could get water and wash myself off. I was covered head to toe in ash. My shoes had ash on them and I had ash in my hair. I was walking north toward the bridge and there were a lot off cops everywhere helping people out. I finally got to this church because that was the only place that had a phone that seemed to be working. So I got to the church and called my Mom and Dad. They where very worried about me. The church was on Henry Street. They had not heard from me since I had called the first time. .And they were wondering what had happened to me. My whole Family was Frantic because I work downtown.
I was so scared because I had seen terror and devestation. I was also so upset I shaking I was so scared. By the time I got out of the church I figured I was fine but I was not. I was so damn scared I was shaking and a woman had to hug me so I could calm down and I give her a hug and she said come inside and I had done just that I called my mom a second time and told her where I was. Everyone was so scared and talking. I did not want to take the ferry to New Jersey because my sister would of had to pick me up so I did not. It was so black I had to walk and I thought to myself how am I going to get out of Manhattan ? When I was walking toward Fulton Street, the cops said run because the cops saw a plane near a bridge and I was covered with ash. I walked to a subway and took the F train to 5th Avenue. I couldnt get the #7 train to Grand Central. So I walked and still saw smoke and was happy I was out of harm's way. When I was on the train I told people I was down there in the area because I work there and they could see the ashes on my clothes what was left of the World Trade Center. I took the train out of Grand Central. It was standing room only And I looked outside and going over the Blue Bridge I could still see the Smoke . Everyone was trying to get out of the city and safely. I want to thank all of the policemen who helped and all of the nuns and God who was with us and my family who care about me. They where so worried about me that everyone was calling my parents house. I am o.k. thank you God . |

My life is not complicated, and I like it that way. Job, apartment, cat, and my friends. Over the years, I've belonged to several clubs, and we've made all kinds of trips , and so I have come to like travel. It's my hobby. Here are some travel memories:
