Cries of My Heart
Today, you extended the invitation
My wait had stretched far and wide
Now, we stand among the midnight hour
You state to no longer hide
The sky is ignited with shimmering stars
I am engulfed by romance's air
Finally allowed to stare into emerald eyes
Lightly stroke your strawberry hair
I do not fret on what altered your mind
Not eager to waste precious time
Will revel in the gift bestowed upon me
Allow the music of love to chime
Eventually, I will wear out my welcome
Happily, I vow to depart
Tears will not lead to sleepless nights
Knowing I answered the cries of my heart

The Answer
I am approaching it slowly, for I cannot bear to see
There resides a wall dividing me from reality
Inner silence will be broken, leaving me in despair
I want to escape from the cold stare
The mask will fall, as my heart is torn
I will discover why I was born

Red Galoshes
I wore red galoshes
Treaded alone through the freezing rain
Silently, I prayed for sunshine
Yet, not to alleviate nature's drain
For hours, I spanned across muddy acres
Left tiny imprints in my wake
Though, I knew when dryness prevails
Abolished evidence would replace my stake
That will not hinder my goal
Will find a permanent home to stay
There must be a family who will love me
One that will throw my worn galoshes away
